Roseville Area High School is pleased to be offering our invitational classic debate tournament on Saturday October 3, 2009. This is the first annual Roseville Rosebowl. The tournament will follow a bowling theme with awards for the top three two person teams winning bowling pins as trophies. We expect these to become coveted keepsakes.
Classic Debate: We offer three divisions: Varsity, JV, and Novice. All debaters will debate on the resolution: Resolved that on balance, The Car Allowance Rebate System (“Cash for Clunkers”) is good for America.
Judges: You must provide one qualified judge for every two classic teams entered. (If you bring1-2 teams, you need 1 judge; 3-4 teams = 2 judges; 5-6 teams = 3 judges etc.). The tournament might have a very limited number of judges to hire at $75 per day (or to trade for future judges). We will provide a short meeting before the tournament starts to provide an overview of the process of judging. Judges will be fed.
Registration: Please register by e-mail. The registration deadline is WEDNESDAY, September 30. To register, e-mail gregg.martinson@isd623.org the number of two-person teams that you will have in each division. If changes in your registration arise, please send us that information by Friday. Please e-mail me the names of your debaters and judges by Friday. For judges, please indicate the divisions that they are qualified to judge.
Food: Pizza, pop and candy will be available for sale at lunch time.
Fees: The cost is $15 per two-person team, checks payable to Roseville Area High School Debate.
We hope you can attend this tournament.
